RAÍZEN LAUNCHES THE WORLD’S LARGEST SECOND-GENERATION ETHANOL PLANT

Raízen has opened a new Second Generation Ethanol (E2G) plant in Guariba (SP) with an investment of BRL 1.2 billion. This is the world’s largest ethanol facility, with an annual production capacity of 82 million liters, 80% of which is already contracted. E2G’s carbon content is 80% lower than gasoline and 30% lower than first-generation ethanol, making it crucial to the low-carbon economy, particularly in sectors such as aviation and marine. Raízen aims to build nine more facilities and has identified eleven further locations, with a total capacity of 1.6 billion liters yearly. This project also provides major economic and social advantages, such as job creation and the growth of local suppliers.
