SUGARCANE PRODUCERS WILL RECEIVE AT LEAST 60% OF THE MILLS’ REVENUE WITH CBIOS

Sugarcane producers and plants have reached an agreement on sharing gains from decarbonization credits (CBios) under the RenovaBio program. Jointly announced by industry entities, including Bioenergia Brasil, Unica, and Feplana, the agreement establishes that producers will receive at least 60% of net CBios revenue generated by the plant. The proposal, to be presented to Congress via PL 3149/2020, also ensures producers who certify themselves with their data will receive a minimum of 85% of additional net revenue compared to standard profiles. This decision aims to enhance energy-environmental efficiency, reinforcing the sector’s commitment to sustainability and decarbonization. The agreement accelerates CBios issuance for rural producers, reducing dependence on lengthy congressional approval processes.
