PORTS OF PARANÁ MAINTAINS STREAK OF EIGHT RECORD-BREAKING MONTHS

In March, Paraná ports achieved a record cargo throughput of 5,968,934 tonnes, marking an 11% increase from last year and the eighth consecutive monthly record. The year’s first quarter saw a 16% rise, totaling over 16 million tonnes, led by soybeans and sugar exports. Soybean shipments surged by 27%, while bulk sugar saw a remarkable 352% increase. Import-wise, fertilizer handling grew by 18%, with the Port of Paranaguá playing a significant role, handling 26% of Brazil’s fertilizer imports. Luiz Fernando Garcia, CEO of Portos do Paraná, highlighted the substantial growth, emphasizing the ports’ pivotal role in facilitating trade.
