PORT OF ITAQUI WILL BE THE FIRST IN BRAZIL TO OFFER A DECARBONIZATION PROGRAM

The Port of Itaqui is set to launch Brazil’s first-ever decarbonization plan for ports, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the port complex. The plan is the outcome of an innovative collaboration with the Port of Valencia in Spain, and it is scheduled to be finished by October 2024. The strategy will lay out a clear path for activities and investments to accomplish decarbonization goals. According to Josep Sanz, technical coordinator at the Port of Valencia, the project’s ambitious nature will make the Port of Itaqui the first Brazilian port with a well-defined plan to combat greenhouse gas emissions.
