The Port of Itapoá saw significant growth in the first half of 2023, with an 18% increase in cargo volume compared to the same period in 2022. The port handled 533,423 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) in the first six months of 2023, up from 450,638 TEUs in the same period in 2022. May was a record month for the port, with 98,113 TEUs handled. Long-haul imports saw the highest growth, from 124,425 TEUs in the first half of 2022 to 174,601 TEUs in the first half of 2023. This represents a 40% increase. Long-haul exports grew 24%, from 122,982 to 152,954 TEUs in 2023.
