According to the CEO of Agribrasil Frederico Humberg, the first grain vessel at the Santa Catarina Port Terminal (Tesc) is leaving after receiving 75,000 tons of corn for Malaysia. This operation provides a new export route for agricultural products from southern Brazil. The trading company has the sole right to use the location, after spending BRL 250 million to upgrade the terminal to handle grains. Tesc will be able to export 3 million tons of soy or corn every year, more than doubling its capacity to do so through the port of Sao Francisco do Sul (Santa Catarina). Prior to now, the terminal has only been used to discharge steel products and fertilizers.
