In order to reduce the waiting time of trucks near the Port of Santos and offer more scheduling options for truck drivers, the Port Authority of Santos (APS) has announced changes to the scheduling system for containerized and loose cargo carriers. Effective May 2nd, these carriers will now have only two hours to arrive at the port after the originally scheduled arrival time. For solid vegetable bulk trucks, there will be no changes, as their cargoes require long travel distances, and the adjustment of the scheduled period is made with a mandatory stop at regulating yards outside the port to prevent transporters from forming queues on highways or even on access roads to the port complex. Therefore, the scheduling window for these cargoes remains at six hours.
