The Port of Paranagua received its largest fertilizer cargo in history, 73,310 tonnes of ammonium sulfate at the dedicated fertilizer pier. According to the operations director of Portos do Paraná, Luiz Teixeira da Silva Júnior, before this, the largest volume of fertilizers brought to the port came with the Lord Byron vessel in July 2022. At the time, 64,777 tonnes of nitrogen and phosphorus-based fertilizers landed. “We are receiving larger ships with less vacant space thanks to recent investments in maritime infrastructure,” said Luiz Teixeira da Silva Júnior. “Works such as the removal of the Palangana stones and the permanent dredging efforts provided operational gains for our terminals, with an increase in depth.”
