Brazil Agroindustry Posts 1.8% Output Growth in April

Brazil’s agroindustrial output rose 1.8% year on year in April 2026, according to FGVAgro’s PIMAgro index. Growth was led by food and beverages, up 2.4%, and non food products, which increased 1.0%. Food production expanded 3.2%, while biofuel output surged 51.3% on higher sugarcane crushing volumes, improved crop quality and stronger ethanol demand. Beverage production fell 1.8%, with alcoholic drinks down 3.1% and non alcoholic beverages slipping 0.5%. Agricultural input production contracted 13.3% from a year earlier. In the first four months of 2026, agroindustrial output increased 0.7%. FGVAgro also flagged pressure from higher freight and energy costs, trade restrictions and export market uncertainties.
