Porto do Recife is set to invest $19.7 million in dredging works to expand its operational capacity and accommodate larger vessels. The project covers deepening of access channels to a minimum of 39 feet, an operational draft of 35 feet, and a turning basin of approximately 1,640 feet in diameter. On completion, the port will be able to handle vessels up to 689 feet in length. Works began in March 2026 with a target completion of May 2027. The upgrade is expected to cut logistics costs, increase long-haul cargo throughput, and improve conditions for both cabotage and cruise operations.
