BRAZILIAN CORN EXPORTS JUMP IN MAY, ALREADY MORE THAN FIVE TIMES LAST YEAR’S TOTAL

Brazilian corn exports rose sharply in May 2026 and have already exceeded by more than five times the total volume shipped in the same month last year. Data released by the Foreign Trade Secretariat, Secex, under the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, show that Brazil exported 201,735.3 tonnes of corn through the third week of the month. The result is well above the total exported in May 2025, when shipments reached 38,928.1 tonnes for the full month. The rapid growth reinforces the increasing competitiveness of Brazilian corn in the international market, at a time of expanding global supply and stronger demand from buyers seeking more competitive origins. Considering the 15 business days in May 2026, Brazil shipped a daily average of 13,449 tonnes of corn, a sharp increase of 625.5% from the 1,853.7 tonnes per day recorded in May last year, which had 21 business days. The strong export performance comes as Brazil’s second corn crop advances, increasing domestic availability of the grain and strengthening logistics flows through ports.
