Santos Port handled 42.8 million tonnes in Q1 2026, surpassing full-year 1999 volumes and nearing the 20th century peak. March throughput reached 16.9 Mt, the second-highest monthly figure on record. Container volumes hit 485k TEU in March (+5.4% y/y) and 1.4m TEU in the quarter (+3.6%). Liquid bulk rose to 5 Mt (+11.6%), supported by fuel shipments, while dry bulk totaled 20.5 Mt (+5.2%), led by sugar and soybean meal. The port accounted for 28% of Brazil’s foreign trade; China held a 30.7% share (US$12.98bn). São Paulo led flows with 51.9% (US$21.84bn).
