PORT OF SALVADOR RECORDS HISTORIC BULK CARRIER ACTIVITY

The Port of Salvador reached a new operational milestone with four bulk carriers berthed and working cargo at the public quay for the first time. The move utilizes all available berths, including the first-time activation of the position in front of Warehouse 5. Operations involve three Marshall Islands-flagged vessels discharging wheat and fertilizers, and one Panamanian bulker unloading soda ash. The increase in berth occupancy follows infrastructure upgrades by CODEBA and coordinated operations with Intermarítima and OGMO, including the deployment of shore cranes to improve turnaround and handling rates. The development signals higher berth productivity and expanded throughput capacity at the port, a key gateway in Bahia’s logistics chain.
