Maintenance dredging at the access channel of the Port of Rio Grande resumed in March after an environmental pause, with completion expected by December 2026. The project aims to maintain a 15-meter operational draft, ensuring safe and efficient port operations. Work has restarted at the outer channel—the most critical section—using the Utrecht dredger operated by Van Oord. The campaign will remove approximately 15 million cubic meters of sediment over a 30 km stretch, later advancing to inner channels as needed. With a total investment of BRL 432 million, the project strengthens the port’s logistics capacity and competitiveness.
