PORT OF SANTANA STRENGTHENS THE NORTHERN CORRIDOR AND EXPANDS INLAND GRAIN TRANSPORT IN 2025

Companhia Docas de Santana reported a 35.5% surge in inland waterway cargo at the Port of Santana in 2025, reaching 1.18 million tonnes, driven by strong grain flows—soybean volumes rose 63.2% and corn 42%. The results reinforce the Northern Corridor’s growing role as a competitive export route for Brazil’s Midwest, especially Mato Grosso, by shifting logistics from roads to rivers. This model can cut freight costs by up to 34% and reduce transit times to China via the Panama Canal. Large barge convoys improve efficiency and reduce road congestion, while offering an alternative to bottlenecks at southern ports. The performance positions Santana as a key pillar in Brazil’s agribusiness export strategy and multimodal logistics expansion.
