SECOND CORN PLANTING REACHES 50% IN THE CENTER-SOUTH, DRIVEN BY MT, SAYS AGRURAL

Sowing of the second corn crop in the Center-South had reached 50% of the estimated area by last week, according to AgRural. That’s up from 31% the previous week but below the 64% recorded at the same time last year. The progress was led by Mato Grosso, where a break in rainfall allowed fieldwork to accelerate. Meanwhile, the harvest of the 2025-26 summer corn crop advanced to 28% of the planted area, compared to 22% the week before. However, it still trails last year’s pace of 37%. Harvesting is now underway not only in the southern states but also in São Paulo and Minas Gerais, signaling a steady ramp-up of agricultural activity across the region.
