GOIÁS KICKS OFF ITS SECOND-LARGEST HARVEST IN HISTORY

Goiás has begun harvesting what is expected to be the second-largest grain crop in its history, with production estimated at 36 million tons, according to the National Supply Company. Although slightly lower than the previous harvest, the result underscores the consistency of the state’s agricultural output, as noted by Secretary Pedro Leonardo Rezende. The use of modern technology, crop diversification, and the rehabilitation of deteriorating pastures are the reasons behind this success. Soybeans remain the main driver, with a projected 19.8 million tons, followed by corn. With the help of ongoing sector professionalization, Goiás is expected to rise in national rankings in the next years, according to the Institute for the Strengthening of Agriculture and Livestock of the state.
