On Feb. 6, Renan Filho launched construction of Brazil’s first authorized shortline freight railway in Inocência, strengthening logistics in Mato Grosso do Sul. The 47-km line will connect Arauco’s future pulp mill to the Port of Santos, moving up to 3.5 million tonnes annually. Costing BRL 2.8 billion and due by late 2027, the project supports the state’s leadership in pulp exports. Broader investments include highway concessions and new rail links backed by BNDES for Eldorado Brasil Celulose, connected to Rumo. According to Federation of Industries of Mato Grosso do Sul, the state generated US$3.11 billion from pulp exports in 2025.
