PORT OF IMBITUBA POSTS BEST JANUARY ON RECORD WITH 679,000 TONNES HANDLED

In January 2026, Port of Imbituba handled over 679,000 tonnes across 34 vessels — its best January ever — highlighting steady growth and stronger integration into logistics corridors. Imports (363,100 tonnes) exceeded exports (251,400 tonnes), while cabotage and transshipment remained solid. Solid bulk dominated throughput (78.3%), led by petroleum coke, coal, salt and cornmeal, while container cargo rose to 14.2%, showing diversification and higher-value flows. Breakbulk reached 44,000 tonnes. A key milestone was Impasa exporting 62,500 tonnes of DDGS to China, expanding Santa Catarina’s export mix. Trade through the port surpassed US$153 million, according to Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services data.
