Brazil’s Ministry of Ports and Airports has approved an expansion of the official boundaries of the Port of Santos, redefining the area under port authority management. The new ordinance adds 17.2 million square meters — including 4.8 million of land and 12.4 million of water — to support medium- and long-term growth at Brazil’s largest container port, which handles 43% of national volumes. The change addresses previous limits that restricted expansion and follows a public consultation held in 2025. Further boundary revisions may still be considered, pending technical and legal analysis. The Santos Port Authority will now calculate the port’s updated official coverage based on the new parameters.
