BRAZILIAN CORN ETHANOL PRODUCTION IS EXPECTED TO REACH 10 BILLION LITERS IN 2025/26, ACCORDING TO UNEM.

Corn ethanol is rapidly strengthening its role in Brazil’s biofuel mix, with production expected to reach 10 billion liters this crop year — about one-third of the national ethanol market. After expanding more than 30% annually over the past eight years, output could grow another 20% next harvest, nearing 12 billion liters. With supply rising faster than consumption, the sector is seeking new demand through expanded domestic use, gasoline substitution and export markets. New biorefineries are spreading beyond the Midwest into other regions, while total plants may reach 33 by 2026. Long-term growth also depends on emerging uses such as sustainable aviation fuel and maritime energy, positioning Brazil for major expansion if demand keeps pace.
