Sugarcane production by mills in Brazil’s Center-South region is projected to reach 633.42 million tons in the 2026/27 season, up 3.9% from the current cycle, according to Pecege Consultoria. The average ATR is expected to rise 1% to 139.37 kg/ton, recovering from weather-related losses in 2025/26, when unseasonal rains reduced ATR to about 138 kg/ton. Despite these setbacks, the current harvest showed resilience. The sugar production mix is forecast to decline from 50.6% to 48.4%, reflecting a shift that began in October as Asian harvests increased global supply and ethanol prices rose. This marked the end of a prolonged period of monthly increases in the sugar mix observed earlier in 2025.
