The Port of Suape in Pernambuco has gained national recognition for its environmental efforts, earning the Ministry of Ports and Airports’ Sustainability Seal at the Diamond level. In 2025, the port planted 1,000 native Atlantic Forest seedlings in a strategic groundwater recharge area to protect springs, riparian forests, and water quality for the port and nearby communities. The initiative, held in March to mark World Water Day, involved partnerships with the Ipojuca municipal environmental agency, local public school students, port volunteers, and environmental technicians. The project combined reforestation with environmental education and supports biodiversity through native species cultivation. With nearly 60% of its 13,000-hectare territory designated as an Ecological Preservation Zone, Suape reinforces its commitment to sustainable development and ESG practices.
