FERTILIZERS DRIVE UP SOYBEAN PRODUCTION COSTS IN MATO GROSSO DO SUL

According to Aprosoja/MS, fertilizers continue to be the largest expense in soybean production for Mato Grosso do Sul, accounting for 39.83% of the total cost for the 2025-26 harvest, which is equivalent to 11.63 bags per hectare. Based on the IPRO cultivar, with an average yield of 53 bags/ha and a price of BRL 120 per bag, the total production cost was estimated at BRL 6,115.83 per hectare, a 1.9% increase from the last harvest. While fertilizer spending rose 24.1%, costs for other inputs decreased, including soil correctives (-30.8%), fungicides (-17.3%), herbicides (-26.5%), and adjuvants (-43.2%).
