MINAS GERAIS AGRICULTURAL EXPORTS TO GROW 17% IN 2025

From January to July 2025, Minas Gerais’ agribusiness exports reached US$11.4 billion, up 17% from 2024, consolidating the state as Brazil’s third-largest exporter with 12% of national revenue. Despite an 8.4% drop in shipped volume, higher average prices boosted earnings, particularly for coffee, which generated US$6.2 billion (54% of revenue), a 56.4% rise driven by global shortages. Meat exports reached US$1 billion, up 16.8%, while soybeans totaled US$2.2 billion, with declines in both value and volume. Sugar and alcohol revenue fell 22% to US$970 million, and forest products dropped 17% to US$586 million. More than 580 products were sold to 171 countries, led by China, the U.S., Germany, Italy, and Japan. Beekeeping and fruits stood out with strong growth, and the U.S. remained a key buyer despite new tariffs, with Minas Gerais exporting a record US$1.3 billion to that market.
