NEW SANTANA-PORT TO GUANGDONG MARITIME ROUTE CUTS BRAZIL-CHINA TRANSIT BY 14 DAYS

Brazil and China have launched an experimental direct maritime route connecting the Guangdong Greater Bay Area and the Port of Santana (Amapá), cutting transport time by about 14 days and strengthening Brazil’s role in global value chains. In a meeting with Guangdong Vice-Governor Zhang Hu, Minister Waldez Góes highlighted trade opportunities in Amazon bioeconomy products such as açaí, cocoa, and honey, stressing the importance of diversifying exports beyond soy, coffee, and meat. Guangdong, China’s top economic powerhouse and home to the largest number of Chinese firms in Brazil, expressed commitment to expanding cooperation and improving logistics efficiency through this new route. The initiative also supports projects in bioindustry, sustainable infrastructure, energy transition, and education. Supported by ApexBrasil, which opened an office in Shenzhen in July, the agreement positions Santana as a strategic hub for Sino-Brazilian trade and fosters deeper integration across multiple sectors.
