PORT OF SANTOS POSTS RECORD CARGO THROUGHPUT IN JULY

In July 2025, the Port of Santos surpassed 17 million tonnes of cargo handled for the first time in its history, marking a record high amid a resurgence in exports, possibly triggered by U.S. tariffs on Brazilian goods. Vessel traffic to Europe and the U.S. increased notably. Solid bulk rose 10% (900,000 tonnes), containerized cargo grew 4% (200,000 tonnes), and breakbulk increased 9% (85,000 tonnes). Liquid bulk is expected to rise 10%. APS president Anderson Pomini emphasized that this “record of records” highlights Santos’ strategic importance during critical moments. Despite weather-related disruptions, operations remained incident-free throughout July. Final numbers are still being compiled across over 50 terminals, but operational data already confirms the record.
