GREEN HYDROGEN PROJECTS TOTAL R$454 BILLION IN INVESTMENTS IN THE COUNTRY

The consultancy Clean Energy Latin America (Cela) identified 111 green hydrogen-related projects in Brazil, totaling R$454 billion in announced investments. These initiatives—including green hydrogen, ammonia, e-methanol, and green steel—span 15 states and will require 90 GW of new renewable energy capacity. CELA’s analysis highlights Brazil’s competitive edge in green ammonia production, with local costs ranging from US$539/t to US$1,103/t, comparable to or cheaper than fossil fuel-based methods (US$361–1,300/t). Green hydrogen can currently be produced in Brazil at costs between US$2.83/kg and US$6.16/kg in select strategic areas, reinforcing the country’s potential in the global energy transition.
