VLI SETS HISTORIC RECORDS FOR SUGAR AND FERTILIZER FLOWS AT SANTOS TERMINAL

VLI has increased the draft of berths at the Tiplam terminal in Baixada Santista from 13.35m to 14.1m, boosting cargo capacity by around 10% and allowing larger vessels to dock. This upgrade has already enabled record operations for sugar exports (74,000 tons) and fertilizer imports (72,600 tons). The dredging work in the Piaçaguera Channel and at berths 2, 3, and 4 aims to improve efficiency, reducing ship wait times due to tides by over 60% and increasing berth availability. VLI, Brazil’s largest rail transporter of fertilizers, expects these improvements to enhance export-import logistics and attract more global cargo flow through the Santos Port Complex.
