Brazil and South Africa have signed a phytosanitary agreement that authorizes the export of Brazilian canola seeds to South Africa, a country of over 63 million people that imported around USD 635 million in Brazilian agricultural products in 2024. The deal not only diversifies Brazil’s trade partnerships but also opens new opportunities for agribusiness, as South Africa is a major oilseed producer in its region. This agreement marks the 394th new market opening for Brazilian agribusiness since early 2023, thanks to the joint efforts of Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
