RIO GRANDE PORT SEES 6.4% GROWTH THIS SEMESTER, DOMINATING 96% OF RIO GRANDE DO SUL PUBLIC PORT ACTIVITY

The Port of Rio Grande recorded its greatest semester performance since 2021, handling 19.7 million tons between January and June 2025, a 6.42% increase over the same time in 2024. Growth was primarily driven by cargoes such as corn, rice, and soybean meal, with the terminal accounting for 96% of the tonnage handled by public ports managed by Portos RS. In total, the Rio Grande do Sul ports handled 20.4 million tons in the first half of the year, representing a 5.23% increase. Pelotas recorded an 8.75% gain, particularly in the wood sector, whereas Porto Alegre experienced a fall. In total, the three ports received 1,894 vessels, with 1,563 arriving at the Port of Rio Grande.
