Brazil’s Ministry of Transport signed a cooperation agreement with China State Railway to study the feasibility of a bi-oceanic railway corridor linking Bahia, Brazil, to the Port of Chancay in Peru. The project aims to cut export time and costs to China while improving Brazil’s role in global trade. It builds on recent technical visits and negotiations between both countries, focusing on integrating Brazil’s logistics—especially for agricultural and mineral exports from the Central-West—into global corridors. The railway (Fico-Fiol axis), with an auction planned for next year, forms the project’s backbone, which also includes multimodal transport solutions.
