BRAZIL’S OIL PRODUCTION GROWS 10.9% IN MAY, BREAKING RECORD: ANP

Brazil’s oil production hit a new record in May 2024, reaching 3.679 million barrels per day (bpd), a 10.9% increase from May 2023, driven by pre-salt field development. Compared to April, production rose 1.3%, surpassing the previous record from November 2023. Petrobras, the country’s leading oil company, produced 2.21 million bpd, up 7.31% year-on-year, aided by new FPSO platforms in the Búzios and Mero fields. Shell, Brazil’s second-largest producer, increased output by 11.67%. Natural gas production also rose to 172.3 million m³/day, but only 32.16% was made available to the market. Total oil and gas production reached 4.763 million boe/day, with pre-salt output hitting a record 3.803 million boe/day.
