RAINS SLASHES OFF-SEASON HARVEST TO JUST 18% IN CENTER-SOUTH

The 2025 off-season corn harvest in Brazil’s Center-South is slow, with only 18% of the farmland harvested by June 26, compared to 49% in the same period in 2024. Heavy rains and field issues have hindered operations in the north of Paraná, resulting in losses in Mato Grosso do Sul, west of Paraná, and south of São Paulo. Despite the hurdles, AgRural upped the off-season output projection to 103.4 million tons, up from 101.5 million in May and an increase over 90.1 million in the previous harvest. As a result, total corn production for the 2024-25 season increased to 130.6 million tons.
