Antaq reports that ports in the Northeast handled 7.7 million tons in April 2025, up 7% from the same month in 2024. Soybeans led with 2 million tons, with the Port of Itaqui (MA) handling 3.3 million tons overall. Suape (PE) came in second, with 1.8 million. The Port of Areia Branca (RN) saw the highest percentage growth, surging by 82.3%, due to the key role of salt in the region’s economy.
