PARANÁ PORTS SURPASSED 28 MILLION TONNES HANDLED IN THE FIRST FIVE MONTHS OF THE YEAR

From January to May 2025, Paraná’s public ports handled 28.2 million tonnes of cargo, a 3.7% increase over the same period in 2024. Exports remain dominated by agricultural commodities, led by soybeans (6.3 million tonnes) and soybean meal (3 million tonnes), with China and the Netherlands as top destinations. Fertilizers led imports, totaling 4.36 million tonnes and representing over 25% of national fertilizer imports. Strong productivity in the 2024/25 harvest and favorable exchange and geopolitical factors boosted performance. Despite a dip in April–May, exports rebounded in June. The outlook is optimistic for the second half of 2025, with expectations of 2–3 million tonnes of corn exports. Portos do Paraná forecasts steady flow from delayed sales earlier in the year.
