The Meridional Port project in Arroio do Sal, on the northern coast of Rio Grande do Sul, has advanced with the signing of the Decree of Public Utility (DUP) by Governor Eduardo Leite. This step enables land expropriation and legal procedures for the port’s construction, which is set to begin in early 2026. The R$6.5 billion investment will include ten berths for cargo and cruise ships and is expected to create over 7,000 jobs. The project, led by DTA Engenharia, aims to improve logistics, boost tourism, and support sustainable development. Environmental licensing with IBAMA is underway.
