During an event with President Lula, Minister Silvio Costa Filho revealed plans to establish the Dock Company for the Port of Itajaí (SC) via a Provisional Measure. The port will receive BRL 844 million for upgrades, safety enhancements, logistics improvements, and expansion. Following a failed privatization effort, the Brazilian government took back control of the port in 2024, prioritizing global competitiveness. Further investments in infrastructure and equipment, including dredging, channel upgrades, a tourist pier, and a monitoring system, will bring billions in funding. Additionally, the state is set to gain BRL 9 billion in naval projects, which are projected to create over 17,500 jobs.
