BAZAN MILLS ARE THE LARGEST EXPORTERS OF SUGAR VIA CONTAINER IN 2024

After a considerable increase in 2023, sugar exports via containers remained relatively stable in 2024, with an annual increase of 1.4%. The commodity is still more profitable for sugar and ethanol companies than ethanol, which resulted in a record shipments last year, with 38.24 million tons . In addition to Brazil’s high production, with mills betting on crystallization to take advantage of the good moment in prices, the global context was favorable. The Indian government, with low prospects for the country’s harvest, did not allow exports in 2024. Thus, the Brazilian product became even more prominent in the global market. Brazil exported 2.98 million tons of sugar via containers last year, 8% of the total sent to other countries. 168 companies exported Brazilian sugar via containers in 2024 and mills Bazan were the largest exporters.
