Brazil announced an investment of around BRL 1.5 billion to modernize the ports of Salvador, Aratu, and Ilhéus in partnership with the Bahia government. The project’s stated goal is to enhance logistical efficiency and provide better service to the industrial sector by expanding the cargo handling capacity of Aratu and Ilhéus from 300 to 2,000 tons per hour. The Port of Aratu will get BRL 1.3 billion to build a new dock for chemicals and liquids, as well as upgrades to current terminals. The Port of Ilhéus will receive BRL 130 million for channel dredging, dock building, and Wheat Mill reactivation after 17 years.
