TRANSNORDESTINA RAILWAY EXPECTED TO REACH PORT OF PECÉM IN 2027, SAYS CONCESSION EXECUTIVE

The Transnordestina Railway, managed by TLSN, is set to reach the Port of Pecém (CE) in the second half of 2027, transforming logistics in Brazil’s Northeast. Commissioning operations begin in October 2025 with test runs of grains and limestone between Bela Vista do Piauí and Iguatu (CE) to validate infrastructure and cargo flow. The 1,750-km line will feature six terminals, including sites in Piauí, Pernambuco, and Ceará, serving grain, gypsum, and general cargo markets. With R$15 billion in investments—R$4.4 billion from the federal government—the project aims to boost exports, reduce transport costs, and link to major logistics hubs like Suape and the North-South Railway. Once complete, it’s expected to generate R$7 billion annually in regional growth, strengthening agribusiness and positioning rail as a key alternative to road transport.
