Tereos, one of the top firms in the production of sugar, ethanol, and electricity from sugarcane biomass, has qualified with the Electric Energy Trading Chamber (CCEE) to operate in the retail modality in the Brazilian free energy market to satisfy rising demand. This move will help the company to meet the growing demand for its products. Tereos uses sugarcane as its primary raw material to produce biogas and energy, and it has received a CCEE certificate to enter a new market. In effect, this implies that the corporation will be able to provide electricity directly to small and medium-sized enterprises that are linked to high voltage from 2024 onwards. Tereos intends to commit at least 10% of its yearly production volume in the short to medium term to meet the demand created by its entry into this area.
