SUPER TERMINAIS AND AMAZONAS GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCE FIRST NATURAL GAS PLANT FOR PORT OPERATIONS

On July 2, Super Terminais and the Amazonas state government signed a R$30 million contract to build Northern Brazil’s first natural gas plant dedicated to port operations. The plant, to be located in the SUFRAMA area of Manaus, aims to replace diesel use with cleaner energy, reduce truck traffic, and cut about 17,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually. Underground pipelines will connect the plant directly to the port, ensuring continuous supply to equipment like the world’s first electric Konecranes. The initiative reflects a long-term partnership with Cigás and Amazonas, positioning the state as a leader in sustainable energy transitions. Governor Wilson Lima emphasized the project’s role in promoting environmentally responsible development while generating jobs and income.
