SUGAR HELPS BOOST EXPORTS FROM PARANÁ IN THE FIRST QUARTER

In the first quarter, Paraná’s exports surged by 4.7%, fueled by soybeans, raw sugar, and refined sugar. Total export revenue reached US$5.42 billion, securing Paraná’s lead in the South region. Notably, soybean exports soared by 161.2%, raw sugar by 105.5%, and refined sugar by 380.6%. Other significant contributors to export growth included electrical generators, transformers, oils, fuels, and food products, which collectively jumped by 18.9%. China emerged as a key importer, purchasing 71.1% more goods from Paraná, representing 26% of the state’s total exports. These insights were gathered by the Paraná Institute for Economic and Social Development (Ipardes) from data provided by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services (MDIC).
