SECOND CORN CROP FORECAST AT 16 MILLION TONS IN PARANA

The 2021/22 second corn crop in Brazil’s Paraná was estimated this Thursday (26) at 16 million tons, according to the state’s forecast department (Deral), which maintained its projection of record production. This represents a growth of 180% when compared to last season, when drought and frost affected production. The second crop corn harvest is about to start in the state, with 14% of the areas in maturation. This season’s soybean output is now seen at 12 million tons, compared to 11.8 million in April forecast. With the drought at the beginning of the year, the oilseed production is likely to fall 39% when compared to the previous cycle. The wheat crop has already planted more than half of its area by the beginning of the week. Wheat output is estimated at 3.88 million tons, compared to 3.86 million in the previous forecast, according to the entity. Depending on the weather, there would be a growth of 21% over last year.
