Farmers in the state of São Paulo are expected to produce 400 thousand tons of wheat this year. According to a report from the four largest grain-producing cooperatives in São Paulo, the 2022 wheat crop is expected to set a record. “If weather conditions this year are favorable for cultivation, there will be an increase in productivity in São Paulo, as the planted area will be similar to last year”, said the president of the Wheat Sectorial Chamber, Victor Oliveira. If the expectation is confirmed, farmers would overturn the drop in production, which was impacted by frosts in 2021. On the other hand, farmers from São Paulo, despite the challenges, were encouraged by the price of wheat, which contributed to the profitability. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine as well as the outcomes for the wheat market were also in the meeting’s agenda.
