Brazilian agribusiness exports totaled US$ 15.11 billion in May 2022, up 14.2% from the same month last year. The increase in value was caused by the average export prices of Brazilian agricultural products. In the first five months of 2022, Brazilian agribusiness exports totaled US$ 63.62 billion (+29.0%), a record for the period. The five agribusiness sectors that exported the most were: the soybean complex (53.9% share), meats (14.8% share); forest products (10.4% share); sugar and alcohol complex (4.4% share); and coffee (4.2% share). The primary exporting sector of Brazilian agribusiness is the soybean complex, which registered a record value in May 2022, reaching US$ 8.15 billion, 6.2% higher compared to exports in May 2021. The main factor responsible for this record value was the increase in average export prices, which rose, on average, 39%. Brazilian agribusiness imports totaled US$ 1.53 billion in May 2022 (+25.3%). Fertilizer imports increased by 56.7%, from 2.6 million tons to 4.07 million tons in 2022.
