PORT OF SÃO SEBASTIÃO DEEPENS CHANNEL, UNLOCKING ACCESS FOR LARGER SHIPS

The Port of São Sebastião finished maintenance dredging of its main berth on Friday (31), restoring a 10-meter depth and enhancing maneuver safety. Companhia Docas de São Sebastião (CDSS) removed 60,000 m³ of silt and studied its environmental impact in Araçá Bay. Authorized by Ibama, the dredging took 45 days within a five-month overall schedule. CEO Ernesto Sampaio stated the operation was crucial for the terminal’s efficiency and competitiveness; through September, it handled 1.127 million tons of cargo including sugar, malt, barley, barrels, coke, and glass silicate.
