PORT OF SANTOS HANDLED 30% MORE CARGO IN FEBRUARY; SUGAR STOOD OUT

Due mostly to agriculture, especially sugar, cargo handling at the Port of Santos increased by 30.4% in February compared to the same month the previous year, totaling 14.3 million tons. Notable developments include the rise in cellulose and meat exports, as well as fertilizer imports. Containers increased by 23.9%, reaching 402.4 thousand TEU, and dry bulk grew by 34.5%. The Port of Santos accounted for 28.7% of Brazil’s trade flow in February, with China being the main partner. The state of São Paulo held the largest share in commercial transactions, with 54.2%.
