The Port of Santos, the largest port in Latin America, set a new monthly historical record in September by handling 16.2 million tons, a 19% increase compared to the same month the previous year. This performance elevated the year-to-date total to 127.6 million tons, representing a 3.1% increase. In September, exports reached 12.3 million tons, a 26.9% increase, while imports experienced a slight decline of 0.7%, totaling 3.8 million tons. Agribusiness commodities such as corn, soybeans, and sugar were pivotal for this growth. Corn saw a 91.9% increase, soybean shipments grew by 47.3%, and sugar exports increased by 32.7%. Containerized cargo, on the other hand, saw an 18.3% decrease in September. The Port of Santos maintains a 28.3% share in Brazil’s trade flow, with China as a significant trading partner.
